Symposium Indicated Church’s Future Trend
The symposium mahibere kidusan has been carrying out as part and parcel of the millennium festival is said to have indicated the future trend of the church. Dn. Anduamlak Yibeltal, head of the symposiums division within the Millennium Committee, has pointed out that of the 24 topics planned to be discussed, 18 of them have have so far been treated well in a way they have hit the target of forecasting the future by taking the present as a spring board.
Topics deliberated upon included:-
- uniqueness to the Ethiopian church calendar
- Islamic fundamentalism and the challenge it has posed on the Church
- Church- state Relation
- Parish councils
- Conflict Resolution and the church
- The Church and our sovereignty as a people
- The Church and social Justice
- The Church and heritage protection , and
- The Church and Capacity Building.
Graduation of Disciples
The Holy Trinity Theological College and the Sewasewe Birhan Kidus Paulos seminary have graduated their respective disciples. The college’s continuing education Division has graduated 41 disciples at a diploma and 44 at a degree level. The seminary on its part has graduated 119 disciples at a diploma level.
The June 28, 2008 graduation ceremony of the Trinity College was blessed by his holiness patriarch Abune paulos who was present at the scene. For the first time in its history, the college has granted, the status of an assistant professor to Lulie melaku who has been teaching for some 50 years.
Meanwhile, graduation at the Sewasewe Birhan Kidus Paulos seminary was held on June 20, 2008 in the presence of the patron, Abune Gabriel, and fellow Archbishops.
