Participants Called for Giving Focus to Youth

In the National Parish Council Seminar held from Yekatit 9-10,2001 E.C /16-17 Feb..2009/, at the Patriarchate Office, participants have called up on their church to make the youth a focus of the spiritual activity.  Various pertinent organs of the church from the Sunday Schools Department down to parish churches need to work on the youth to have a reliable relay of responsibilities, the participants have said.
  
The importance of modernizing the traditional church curriculum and giving focus to evangelic activities was also stressed during the seminar .By maintaining centralized budget allocation , it is important to shift scholars from the areas in which they are good in number to where they are rare, it was said. Instructing disciples in their own mother tongues must be seriously worked up on, it was also noted.

Careful and centralized monetary management to avoid embezzlement was the other issue the seminar has underscored. The participants have called upon the church’s management to work out directives to this end.

The need to have an editorial body that looks into the tapes and video recordings being released in the name of the church was also emphasized. The participants have asked for the opening of book shops and distribution centers of magazines and news papers in each diocese.

Eleven  papers of various themes were presented and discussed on the occasion. The seminar was attended by H.H.Abune Paulos and representatives of dioceses, Sunday schools and others. The Holy Patriarch has praised the seminar for sorting out the churches challenges and for suggesting solutions.

We Are On The 4th Floor!

The headquarters (HQ), being built by Mahbere Kidusan, has reached the Fourth floor.  Deacon (Dn.) Girma Metaferia ,Vice chairman of the Buliding. Committee, has called upon members and the faithful, inside the country and abroad ,to intensify their contributions to see HQ construction completed in the set time frame. Within this year, it is planned to take the building to the 7th floor and to make a finishing to the 1st floor, Dn. Girma said. For this to happen, the Bld. Committee has planned to raise some 4.6 million Birr and he has called upon all to be active in the donation and/or fund-raising.

So far 60% of work has been done with an outlay of 6.5ml. Birr in addition to the labor and professional contributions of members. The total cost of the building is estimated to be about 27 ml.Birr , of which 40%(16.2 ml. Birr) will be covered by the professional contributions of members.
