2. Prophecy on St. Mary (…Continued)

Welde-Tensae

1. David

A.  Ps.48:12-13:- walk about Zion, and go all around her.
                        Count Her towers;
                        Mark well her bulwarks;
                        Consider her palaces;
                        That you may tell it;
                        To the generation following.

The word Zion stands for the Ark of Zion (25am.6:8-15), the capital of David (2Sam 5:6), the host of Israel (Ps 126:1), the Heavenly Jerusalem, and St. Mary depending on the relevant context.

  • "To walk about Zion and go all around Her" is to rely on Her [Mother Mary's] intercession, grace and blessing.
  • Her towers, bulwarks and palaces are Her cleanliness in and out for She is a Virgin in the flesh and soul. She is well guarded from the uncleanliness which tars all other than Her. No human being, male and female alike, is free from sins in the flesh and soul. St. Mary is the only pure of our kind.
  • "To tell it to the generation following" explicitly agrees with what She Herself witnesses in the New Testament. "Behold, all generations will hence forth call Me ‘Blessed’," She attests. Lk.1:48. Thus, both before and after the fulfillment of the prophecy, generations who until Universal Judgment day will call her “blessed” among females and, for that matter, among human beings.

B. Ps.87:5 :- Men shall say Mother Zion,
                      For a man is borne of her.
                      And the Most High Himself shall establish Her.
            For Mother Mary is chosen to be given as a mother of ours /Jn. 19:27), St. David has called Her” Mother”. The Incarnation to come for our salvation has been prophesied/
is foretold here when the Prophet says "a Man is borne out of Her." The Son of God, who would frequently call Himself “Man” latter in the New Testament, is referred to as ‘Man” also by David the Prophet.

In saying” the Most High Himself shall establish Her," he has prophesied i that the Lord Himself will decor Her in carnal and spiritual Virginity to be His Mother. Lk.1:35.

 C. Ps.46:4-5:- The Holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High,
                        God is in the midst of her;
                        She shall no be moved.
The Tabernacle, she is called because it is in Her that the Lord Christ dwelled. She is holy for it is in holiness that God would reside. As the tabernacle housed the Ark, she as a mother has housed God.

David prophecies that "God is in the midst of Her"   to mean it was because God was with Her, as St. Gabriel told Herself, that She became fit for the fulfillment of the Incarnation   of Salvation. Though there were different tests posed against Her, She "was not moved" even during Her flight to Egypt.

D:-Ps.78:68:- [God] chose the tribe of Judah,
                Mt. Zion which He loved,
                And He built His sanctuary like the heights,
                Like the earth which he has established for ever.
He calls Mother of the Lord, St. Mary, Mount Zion. The heights are the heavenly posts of the Trinity.

St. Mary is also a Sanctuary of the Lord. She is established for ever in that Her cleanliness /virginity is for ever.

E:- Ps. 132:13:- For the Lord has chosen Zion,
                         He has desired it fir His dwelling place.

In the temporary sense, the Lord has chosen Zion, the land of the Nations, for all others were living without Him. While all others were worshiping idols in their lives devoid of God, Jerusalem (Zion) was worshipping God.

As a mystery, it foretold St. Mary, the desired dwelling place, i.e., mother of Christ. She has become desirable because of Her purity.

2. Isaiah

A.6:1;- In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.

Temporarily, the statement was meant to show how powerful God is over king Uzziah whom Isaiah used to fear. Isaiah had taught that God is eternal and Uzziah is ephemeral.

The high and lifted up throne on whom the Lord has desired to sit as a son is St. Mary. She is high and lifted up due to Her Cleanliness. Isaiah has seen the Lord's robe filling the temple for the Lord will be seen in flesh among us.

B. 4:14:- the Lord Himself will give you a sign; behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

He has clearly prophesied that the Age of Salvation is coming closer .She is called the virgin, for she is special. He is called Immanuel to mean God -with- us.

C. 11:1:- There shall come forth a rod from the stem of Jesse.

This is meant to foreshadow the Incarnation of the Lord. It signifies that the Rod, Christ, will be from the line of Jesse, David's father as per God's promise to David. Ps 132:11. The stem, St. Mary, from who is the rod, Christ, is from David's line.

D. 60:14;- the sons of those who afflicted you shall come bowing to you and they shall call you the City of the Lord, Zion of the Holy one of Israel.

Temporarily, it served as a warning for gentile kings besieging Jerusalem.

The New age to come effects the failure of:

  1. Demons which used to rule over souls in hell.
  2. Pharisees who harassed St. Mary since She was conceived.
  3. Heretics that would demean St. Mary despite Her glory.

3. Ezkiel: -

44:1:- [The Lord] brought me back to the outer gate of the Sanctuary which faces toward the east, but it was shut. And, the Lord said to me, "'this gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter by it, because the Lord God of Israel has entered by it; therefore, it shall be shut."

    • East- Mother Virgin Mary, the Living East out of which the Light, Christ, comes forth.
    • Sanctuary- Her womb in which Christ has dwelt.
    • The shut gate-Her virginity (It was and will remain shut for men, as the Lord has entered by it, meaning, She was and will remain a Virgin without knowing a man as She has mothered God with Her Virginity intact due to the Holy Spirit.)

4. Daniel

2:34:- You watched while a stone was cut out of a mountain without hands which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay and broke them in pieces.

Temporarily, this foretold the demise of the mighty Nebuchadnezzar.

Ultimately, this prophecy has to do with the birth of Christ, the Stone, from St. Mary, the Mountain, and His shattering of demonic powers which were ruling the world until His Redemptive Act on the Holy Cross.

5. Micah

5:2:- But you, Bethlehem Ephrata, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to me the one to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from old, from everlasting.

This prophecy does not restrict itself to the town of Bethlehem which, despite its littleness, has been the chosen in Israel to be the birth place of Christ. On top of this, Bethlehem stands for St. Mary which housed God as a Mother despite Her little stature in the eyes of human beings.

6. Solomon

Of all his books of wisdom /prophecy, Solomon's "Song of Songs" is understood to be full of forecasts on Christ, St. Mary and the church of the New Testament. Here are  examples foretelling St. Mary:

A. Songs 2:10-14:-

Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away,
For lo, the winter is past the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth,
The voice of singing has come....

If we read earlier verses, we realize that the addressee is a female and the addressor uses a tone of a He.

The passing of the winter and the ending of the rain are meant to forecast the end of the Condemned Age. Appearing of flowers and coming of singing indicates the age of salvation. The love and the beauty, i.e., the fair one that was chosen to come for this to be fulfilled has been no female other than St. Mary.

Solomon is glorifying Her in His capacity as a Prophet on top of presenting it as an elevated literature of wisdom. The addressor is God who has chosen Her for His Redemption.

B. Songs 4:7-12:-

You are all fair, my love;
And there is no spot in you.

Come with me from Lebanon, my bride with me,
from Lebanon…
A garden enclosed
Is my sister, my bride
A spring shut up
A fountain sealed.

She has no spot and is all fair for S he is pure in and out, in flesh and soul. She is a bride; a bride betrothed for God's Grandest Mystery of Incarnation. She is from the mountains of Lebanon where she was born. To glorify her virginity, Solomon uses terms like a garden enclosed, spring shut up, and fountain sealed. (To be continued...)

May God Bless us, Amen.
